Infection, prevention and control (IPC) is an evidence based approach to preventing harm that can be caused by infection. It seeks to learn from experience and thus prevent avoidable harm to patients and care givers. This is even more so important during this time of COVID-19 where our management of patients and healthcare workers determines the mortality and morbidity of the population. In this course you will learn what causes infection, proper hand hygiene techniques, how to clean, disinfect and sterilize medical equipment and devices, principles of IPC and how to apply them to COVID-19 and safety in phlebotomy (letting or giving blood and blood products). IPC goes a long way in reducing the risk of the potential spread of disease.
